There are good happenings at Scuba Ventures! You have the opportunity to take part in two great classes as mentioned above. The first is an Underwater Digital Photography class taught by Bobby Sutton on May 29th and May 30th. The second is a Spearfishing class taught by John Murrary on June 14th. The open water for the Spearfishing class will be at Lake Ouachita on June 23rd and 24th. You want to be a part of these classes!

The shop will be conducting open waters at Lake Ouachita beginning June 2nd. We encourage certified divers who are looking for diving opportunities to come along for the weekend. The cost is $40 for the weekend if you have your own gear and $60 for the weekend, which includes rental gear. Call the shop to reserve your spot!

We are excited about all the upcoming classes and trips! Be sure to spread the word about Scuba Ventures to your family, friends, and co-workers. Try Scuba

A Try Scuba is the perfect way to see if Scuba Diving is something you want to pursue. This is a one night class and pool that is held on the second Friday of every month. It is only $22 and all materials and gear are included. This way, you are not investing a lot of time and money for something you are not familiar with and would like to learn more about first. From this class, you will be able to tell if Scuba Diving is something you are interested in. If after taking the Try Scuba you want to sign up for the Level 1 Certification Class (which we know you will because your experience at the Try Scuba will be AWESOME), the price of the Try Scuba will be credited towards the price of the class. Scuba Ventures Dive Family, please tell your friends, family, and co-workers about Try Scuba! Get them interested in the sport that you love!

Grand Cayman

The Hammerheads Dive Club will be going to Grand Cayman September 24 - 29, 2012. The trip is open to anyone, not just members, so if you are interested, please call the shop or visit the website for complete trip details. The group will be staying 5 nights at Cobalt Coast, which includes daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There will be 4 two tank boat dives, unlimited shore diving at Cobalt Coast, a Marine Park Pass to the USS Kittiwake, and a dive at Sting Ray City. This will be a great trip that you don't want to miss!! The shop went last year to Grand Cayman and it was a GREAT experience!

Flower Gardens

Scuba Ventures will be taking two trips to the Flower Gardens in 2012: July 12th - July 13th and September 29th - September 30th. The Flower Gardens are the northernmost coral reefs in the United States. Located about 105 miles directly south of the Texas/Louisiana border, they are perched atop two salt domes rising above the sea floor. The nearest tropical coral reefs to the Flower Gardens are 400 miles away off Tampico, Mexico. Scientists believe that corals at the Flower Gardens probably originated from Mexican reefs when currents in the western Gulf of Mexico carried the young corals (planulae), other animal larvae, and plant spores northward. A few of these planulae were lucky enough to settle on the hard substrate of the Flower Garden Banks. Great diving awaits you, so don't delay in signing up for a spot today!

The MV Fling has spots available every weekend in April. There has been some great weather for the Fling. Call the shop if you are interested in a spot.
